IAT the Light from the Darkness

This is a reflection about my performance in English in learning cycle three. I will say that I am doing well in this important subject. I have done all the things that the teacher asked me to do. The homework section is very important because it helps you to reflect on the things that you have learned in the class also it shows how much did you understand from the lesson. I think that I deserve a full mark in this section because I have submitted quality homework and it was submitted in time. The class work also is a very important side of the subject because it shows that you are active with the teacher or not .It also helps you to be better in any side of the subject for example I am not so good in grammar and there is a point that I did not understand so I tell my teacher what is the problem and he will help me to be better in this point so I wont have troubles with this point in the future and in the IAT you have to speak in English in the classroom . I think that get a full mark because I was active in the classroom and I did what the teacher have asked me to do. I confess that I spoke some Arabic in class but not that much that will effect my mark .Here we are reached the attendance section the attendance is very important because you will take this habit to your work life so in IAT they train you to grow this habit in you to be always in time .so as an attendance officer I think that I deserve 98 out of 100 because I was late only two times and the reason is that I missed the bus .

Now I will talk about quizzes the quizzes helps you to memorize the information very well so you can remember it after a while of taking the lessons also it can show the teacher you level is it good or not. I think that I did well in this section but I leave the marking for the teacher because I don’t know what are my marks and I hope that I will get a full mark in this section . The project is very important because it shows that you have got anything useful in the cycle or not. I think that I will get a full mark because I did my project in a nice and simple way. In learning cycle two I did good in the all sides of the subject but we did another project the project’s name was (( what is my budget ?)) that project helped us to manage our income money in a good way I also expect a full mark in that project .

In learning cycle one we had another project its name was ((Me at IAT)) that was a useful step to made the students know more about there subjects and the rules and regulation at the IAT. I work in the English class as an attendance officer. My job is to make sure that the attendance is taken and to know who is present, late and absent. IAT had an attendance system that says: if the student came during 10 minuets after the period started he will be marked as late but if he came after more than 10 minutes he will be marked as absent. I hope that you got the point of my reflection and I wish the best for you.

To Learn or not to Learn

Yesterday we have met a student from HCT to learn from her the ways she have improved her English language , she said that when she graduated from the secondary school she knew nothing about English and she said I blame the secondary school teachers for the hardships she had when she joined to HCT . She said I started to learn English by reading a lot and conversing in English with her friends . She read and listened a lot in the LRC and by the time , she got better and better . She said that when she will graduate from HCT and that she would like to complete her studies in the UK . After that we asked her few questions , the first question came from my friend Nasser he asked her why she would like to complete her studies in UK ? Her answer was that most of the UAE graduates have gone to the UK so I feel that it is a good place to complete my studies . Mohammed Al Himiri asked her about what type of books she likes to read . She said “I like to read stories”. We asked her why did she chose the IT section . She said that she likes to work with computers and wires . Mubarak Hrran asked her about projects he said: “Do you have projects? if so which type?” . She said “yes we have projects like designing a website on front page . I asked her if there is anything that she thinks it is unfair in HCT. She said “There is something that is not fair the thing is that if a student fails in one subject he will have no chance , he will be expelled from the college” . Mr. Ahmed Moustafa, our English teacher asked her few questions the first one was : “How far is IAT similar to HCT ? She said that we have the same books and the same language of Instruction .The second question was “tell us about one happy memory in the HCT? She said one of my happiest moments was when sheikh Nahian Bin Mubarak came and I spoke in front of him .At the end she wished us all the best of luck in our studies.

We Are All Winners

In learning cycle 3 I did many good things . This is my reflection about my marks. I think that I will get a good mark in homework because I usually present a good and quality homework. I think that homework helped my to improve my English language. Sometimes when I do my homework I have problems so I call my friends to help me. When I have a grammar mistake I look for it in the Essential grammar in Use. I like the homework that our teacher gives us like the flash card. In class work I also think that I will get a good mark because I participate in class, I bring my stationery and I sometime speak English. I speak some Arabic in class and sometimes I become a naughty student, so I think that these will affect my marks. I believe that if I speak English more in class my speaking skill will improve a lot and my teacher will be happy. In the quizzes, I’m sure that I will get good marks because I did very well in the quizzes and I did my best. I always don’t study for the quizzes at home because I have a lot of homework so I usually study on my way to school or in the breaks. The quizzes are helping me in the cycle test, mid year test and in the final test how? I will tell you how when I have a test I don’t take a lot of time to review because I have review it before and the test will be more easer.

I Am a Reflective Learner

In Cycle Four, I worked a lot on my Science Project which is about the bounces of basketball, and learned about the Scientific Method and how to use it. First, I wrote the hypothesis, then I wrote the purpose of my experiment, next I wrote the plan. After I finished my experiment I wrote the procedure, then the result of my experiment, last I wrote the conclusion, and I made a presentation in Power Point. I also learned how to use the program Movie Maker to make a movie, and made a movie about my Science Project.

I had activities like listening to some stories with my classmates in the Majlis, we did some exercises from the Essential Grammar in use and it was very useful, we also finished the first four themes in Starting Skills in English, and they were Education, Daily Life, Work and Business and Science and Nature.My best time in Cycle Four was when we went to Abu Dhabi for a trip to IDEX, IDEX stands for International Defense Exhibition, I had a very good time there I saw many types of weapons, jets, helicopters, tanks and submarines. The worst time in Cycle Four definitely was Week Six.

I met two people in Cycle Four first was Martin Toner. He is Mr. Daniel's son, Martin said that he lives in Abu Dhabi, he made a very nice movie. Second was Miss Mouza Mohammed she is a student in the Higher Collages she studies IT there and works at the IAT now she will graduate in June and gets her Diploma. I learned in Science about speed, velocity and acceleration, I also leaned about distance-time speed-time and graphs. I learned in Math about Trigonometric, and in ICT about Power Point. I enjoyed studying in Cycle Four in 10.01 and I hope that I got excellent marks in this cycle.

An Interview With Moza

Ms. Moza was our guest on Thursday. She told us about herself and her education. Now she is studying IT at the high college .Mrs. Moza hope that she will graduate in the next June and then go to complete her studies in the UK. We asked her about how did she improve her English and the first answer was reading a lot. She also said that she had problems in speaking in English but she worked hard by reading and try to communicate by English, so that improved her English. Then we asked her why did she choose complete her studies in the UK and she said that the UAE prefer those who complete their studies in the UK. She also told us about LCT. It's almost like the IAT. They site there in groups like us and talk in English all the time .After that she said that they have projects at the high college. It was about designing a website, so she worked hard to do it. She also told us about the field trips that she did at the high college like the sport day trip. The best memory for her was speaking in front of Sheikh Nahian and explains her project to him. Mrs. Moza will go back to the college after three weeks and we wish her good luck .

The Grammer Officer

I am the “Essential Grammar in Use” officer. I will start by talking about the book. It helps us to improve our grammar. I am as an officer I saw how they started to improve there grammar from zero to excellent level. Sometimes I have some difficulties when I check their essential because some of them don't finish their work in time but I still enjoy my work as an officer because I help my colleges to improve and I feel happy with my work.

I Can Do Better than This

Meet Our New Principal

Mr. Dan is our new principle at the IAT . Last week he came to our class and told us about how he made it till he got here . Mr. Dan started in public schools , Novaskoshia school in Canada. At that time there weren’t grade 12 , he finished his secondary education in grade 11 . After that Mr. Dan joined to Sant Marry University he graduated with a bachelor in science . He wanted to be a doctor but he realized that he dose not like to be a doctor . He started to teach in 1971 . He worked in many schools as a teacher or Vice principal or a principal. In 2000 he had an offer from Abu Dhabi Grammar School and he accepted it . In 2001, he came Abu Dhabi to work as a principle in Abu Dhabi Grammar School he stayed in Abu Dhabi for 3 years after those three years he returned to Canada for some reasons . After spending a time in Canada he wanted to come back to Abu Dhabi Grammar School but the job was taken . Mr. Dan liked the way of working in the gulf so he applied for many jobs in the UAE and Qatar like HCT . Mr. Dan had many offers to work one of them was from IAT. He accepted to work in IAT because our system was just like the ultra net system in Canada so he had a good knowledge about how our system works . Now Mr. Dan work as a principle in the Institute of Applied Technology.

UAE National Day

On Thursday the 7th of December there was a big celebration for the U.A.E national day all IAT student came from Dubai, Abu Dhabi , RAK and fujairah came to Al Ain to celebrate of the national day . In the first there were flag march, national anthem , Quran reading and the students word . After that there were subject contest like English , Arabic and other subject . I participate in the English contest and I took the second place . During the subject contests there was a football tournament . After these two events we had lunch . After that we watch the final match of the football tournament ,IAT Al Ain won the tournament . Then there was a running contest between the campuses AlAin campus won the running contest too then we went back home at 5:00 pm . In that day I saw how much the UAE kids love there country . I hope that when this day comes again that there well be more nice events .

IAT Promotes Leadership

our English class, we have a number of officers. Each one of them do a different role. The Attendance officer, the Homework Officer, Essential Officer, Starting Skills officer, Project Officer, Inventory officer, Folder officer and the officer of officers, who is unknown to all of us . Every one of them does his job honestly. Let me tell you about the responsibilities of every officer. The Attendance officer takes the attendance every day, The Homework officer checks the homework if it’s done or not, The Theme officer always check the starting skills if it is done or not or if you have a problem with the skills you can ask him to solve that problem for you, The Project Officer is the one who checks the projects or help those who have problems with their projects, also he picks up with a new and a wonderful ideas about the projects. If you need any stuff or things like: Pencil, Pen, Eraser, Sharpener…etc., you should talk to the inventory officer. The Folder officer checks if every student has his clean and complete folder. The last one is a secret officer. The officer of officers he is unknown and his job is to check if every officer does his job. All the officers report to the English teacher.!
