Mrs Khawla Was Here

Yesterday Mrs. Khawla Taresh , the new IAT vice principal, came to our class. She spoke about herself and told us how we can improve our English in Speaking, writing, reading, and listening. She is from Dubai. She lives there now but starting next week she will come to live in Al Ain. She played with us a vocabulary game. We showed her our science fair project. We asked her how she could improve her English. She said tat when she was young she liked to travel from one country to another. She has also read English stories everyday. When she didn’t understand a word she checked it up in a good dictionary. She has gone to the US and the UK . Having many certificates did not stop her; she is still a graduate student at the American University.

Hearing the Voices of IAT Students

At the beginning I was surprised that females would teach us but now there no problems. They are good at teaching and I understand the subject very well.

At IAT Al Ain you can have fun in your breaks; you can play table tennis or baby foot at the Cafeteria. You can even surf the net at the LRC. All those make your breaks more fun.

The plane took off at 5:30 pm. We arrived at Jeddah Airport at 10:45 pm. Then we went to Mekkah by bus. We arrived there at at 2:30. We went to Al Tawhed Hotel to put our bags. Later we went to do Al Omrah. After finishing Omrah we went to the Barber. In Mekkah the supervisors conducted an Islamic competition. After two days we went to Al Madinah to see prophet Mhammed’s Tomb and Al Sahaba. Two days later we came back to the UAE.

A New Face at the IAT

Mrs Khawla Taresh is from the UAE. She was living in Dubai and now she lives in Al-Ain. She worked for MOE. Beside that she traveled to the UK and USA. She has a BA of Education and Diploma. She was teaching creative thinking and Islamic studies. Now she is the new Vice Principal at our IAT Al Ain. Also she traveled to a lot of countries for tourism. For example to the UK and USA 2 times, Spain, India, Hong Kong, Thailand and all countries in Arabian Gulf. “I have one bad habit about traveling, it is when I go to country and I like it I go back to it a lot of times” she said. She is interested in watching English movies. She spoke about her strategies to learn English. For reading, she started to read short stories written in English and in Arabic to compare the meaning. For listening: She shared a technique with us which is the teacher play the listening and the students’ listens if they are understand they should hold Green Card but if they don’t they should rise up the Red Card. At the end the teacher will explain for those who didn’t understand. Beside that she gave us pieces of advice like watch English movies without subtitles. She said when you listen to someone don’t be silent. You should reply to him and say yeah, go ahead, yes, really and nice. For vocabulary: Don’t be shy to ask about word if it is small or big. Like what does it mean or how to spell it? Just ask and go. To improve your writing you need to memorize new words. She said to us when you travel to other Arab Countries, choose someone who speaks English; for example go to an Indian person. She said important thing is that the English language is a visual language. English language is visual language like “right and write” it has same sound but with different spelling but Arabic is different. Arabic language is a sound language.

We are Victorious

I am going to tell you about the match between 10.05 and 10.10 in the final for the football league of the IAT Al Ain. Before the match all the class thought we could not beat 10.10 because there are very good at football but Mr. Ahmed Moustafa our English Teacher we can if we train. 10.05 played very well in this match. The best player in our team was Mohammed Saeed. Mohammed scored the winning goal for 10.05. The dangerous player of 10.10 Ahmed Al Sheryani was not in his best shape. Mohammed Raheem played one to one with him and did not give him any chance to play well. 10.05 team consists of Khalid Taleb as goal keeper. The players were Mohammed Raheem, Mohammed Saeed, Shenain Khalfan, Ahmed Rabeeh, Rashid Al Kaabi and the coach was Faris Anwar. When we finished the match we were honored with medals and had photos with Mr. Ahmed Moustafa . We celebrated with our class and our teacher.
